Solidcor enjoys first-time success at Homes UK
We exhibited for the first time at Homes UK this year, and it certainly proved to be worthwhile! With an impressive footfall of over 4500 attendees visiting 150+ exhibitors in six theatres, it was an action-packed couple of days. We were very pleased to reconnect or meet for the first time with so many people in the social housing sector.
The Solidcor stand was constructed in the style of the timber frame of a house, with examples of our industry-leading doors hung throughout the stand. These included our 2024-release, the T-Series timber fire doors, which boast the same extraordinary fire performance and durable, maintenance-free surface as our flagship R-Series doors, but with an all-timber frame. We were very pleased at the extremely positive reaction to both ranges, making our debut at Homes UK a resounding success.
In addition to displaying our products, we also engaged in many conversations with those visiting the stand, sharing our industry expertise and discussing the needs of the sector. The story of how the Solidcor door design was born out of the Grenfell tragedy was something that always interested visitors. Many had never realised the vast difference that exists between different doors that all classify as ‘composite’ doors, per se. The Solidcor experts on our stand explained many times over that the doors implicated at Grenfell were foam-filled GRP doors, which perform terribly in fire if the outer surface has been compromised in any way.
We also had several conversations around compliance and certification of fire doors. Our experience in securing the broadest spread of certification of almost any fire door manufacturer means that we are able to discuss this subject in depth!
It was also good to discuss with so many visitors the scope that we have to develop custom solutions for housing providers. Achieving the right door solution within any multiple occupancy building is critically important, both for the safety and satisfaction of residents, and this is something that we work closely with customers on. And this extends to both the specification of doors and the logistics of production and fulfilment. Our exceptional 10-day turnaround time also means that door installations can still take place even when the window of opportunity to do so may be very tight.
We were certainly impressed with Homes UK and will be returning in 2025. A big thank you to all those that visited and we look forward to maintaining connection and seeing you next year.
